Ono Kang’s visual diary solo exhibition unveiled – eNews Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — Art lovers can now discover the visual diary of Ono Kang, an set up artist and sculptor from Penang, as his solo exhibition titled “Forged by Time: Ono Kang’s Visual Diary” opened right now.

The exhibition, focuses on Ono’s fascinating installations crafted from scrap metallic, recycled objects, and located objects.

Organised by ArtisFair, based by Datuk Seri Bernard Chandran, the exhibition takes place at Level 3 Fahrenheit88 in Bukit Bintang right here and is open to the general public till May 25. The exhibition is open each day from 11am until 9pm besides on Monday.

Born and bred by the jetties of Georgetown the place his household labored as junk ship sailors and merchants within the charcoal trade, the native Penangite’s inventive journey displays a profound connection to his roots and heritage steeped within the maritime custom of his household.

His household was his largest affect and he needed to inherit his grandfather’s junk ship when he grew as much as sail with them across the area, importing and buying and selling charcoal. However, that ambition was by no means meant to be.

“I can not learn and write as a result of I’m dyslexic. I attempt to create all these objects (artwork items) as if they’re my diary, there’s a story and I attempt to categorical myself there,” he instructed eNM right now.

Being a tattoo artist who has labored with metallic as an artwork kind for 20 years, Ono finds it each difficult and exquisite, and sees the chance to repurpose metals into new artwork items.

As his assortment grew, Ono began to construct sculptures and installations out of them — virtually like constructing a diary out of his reminiscence treasure.
