2 arrests, 2 probes over Kuala Kubu Baharu poll campaign, say cops – eNews Malaysia

SHAH ALAM: Police have made two arrests and opened two investigations out of the seven stories obtained for the reason that Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election marketing campaign began on April 27.

Selangor deputy police chief S Sasikala Devi stated the 2 investigations are underneath Section 4(a) of the Election Offences Act 1954 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA Act) involving the alteration of the Umno emblem by changing the dagger image with a rocket, and putting the picture of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on a car.

According to Sasikala, 57 marketing campaign and 40 ceramah permits have been accepted by the police up to now.

She additionally reminded candidates and political events to marketing campaign responsibly with out bearing on the 3R problems with race, faith and royalty. She stated that anybody who violates these issues might be investigated underneath Section 505 (c) of the Penal Code and Section 33 of the CMA Act.

The marketing campaign interval for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is 14 days, from April 27 to May 10, with polling day on May 11. Early voting will happen on May 7.
