JERUSALEM, April 21 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned immediately he would fight towards sanctions being imposed on any Israeli army items after media reported that Washington was planning such a step towards a battalion for alleged rights violations.
Yesterday, Axios information web site reported that Washington was planning to impose sanctions on Israel’s Netzah Yehuda battalion that has operated within the occupied West Bank. The Israeli army mentioned it was not conscious of any measures being taken.
“If anybody thinks they will impose sanctions on a unit of the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) – I will fight it with all my power,” Netanyahu mentioned in an announcement.
The Israeli army mentioned that Netzah Yehuda battalion is an energetic fight unit that operates in keeping with the rules of worldwide regulation.
“Following publications about sanctions towards the battalion, the IDF will not be conscious of the difficulty. If a call is made on the matter it will be reviewed. The IDF works and will proceed to work to research any uncommon occasion in a sensible method and in keeping with regulation,” the army mentioned. — eNM
