Police nab eight account mules over RM623,834 losses – eNews Malaysia

BALIK PULAU: The police have arrested seven males and a girl suspected of being account mules for numerous fraud syndicates that prompted eight victims to incur losses totalling RM623,834.70 not too long ago.

Southwest district police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal mentioned all of the native suspects, aged 19 to 51 have been arrested in separate raids round Penang and Selangor yesterday.

“Among the eight detained, three circumstances recorded substantial losses. The first case includes the arrest of a 19-year-old youth in Pandamaran, Selangor, who acted as an account mule for a cellphone rip-off syndicate.

“The sufferer deceived by the fraud syndicate, reported 26 on-line transactions to the Bayan Baru police, leading to a lack of RM349,000,” he instructed eNM when contacted.

In the second case, a 38-year-old man detained in Bayan Baru was believed to be an account mule for a property buy rip-off, inflicting a sufferer to incur losses of RM216,000.

Kamarul Rizal mentioned within the third case, which incurred a lack of RM75,902.70, the sufferer fell sufferer to an internet job rip-off.

In this case, the police detained a 22-year-old man in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, for appearing as an account mule for the syndicate.

“Five different people have been arrested for being account mules for separate fraud syndicates, inflicting victims to incur losses starting from RM6,444 to RM19,200,“ he mentioned.

He mentioned the police are actively pursuing the networks of those fraud syndicates and the detained people are remanded to assist investigations beneath Section 420 of the Penal Code associated to dishonest. – eNM
