WASHINGTON, April 24 — The Federal Aviation Administration stated Tuesday it’s investigating a union’s claims that Boeing retaliated against two workers who in 2022 insisted the planemaker re-evaluate prior engineering work on 777 and 787 jets.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) stated the two unidentified engineers have been representatives of the FAA, which delegates a few of its oversight authority and certification course of to Boeing staff.
The union filed an unfair labour observe grievance with the National Labor Relations Board final week, saying the two engineers had obtained an identical unfavorable evaluations after the incident.
Boeing stated in an announcement it has “zero tolerance for retaliation and encourage our workers to talk up once they see a problem. Last week, Boeing high quality engineer whistleblower Sam Salehpour, who raised questions on Boeing widebody jets, instructed senators he was instructed to “shut up” when he flagged security considerations.
