IPOH: With a strategic focus on cultivating expertise in synthetic intelligence (AI) know-how, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) established the Faculty of Computing and Meta-Technology in January 2023.
UPSI vice-chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Md Amin Md Taff, stated the faculty provides varied AI programmes, comprising a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, a analysis-intensive Master’s Degree in AI, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) specialising in AI.
He stated the faculty’s AI job drive oversees analysis and innovation in AI schooling and the faculty presently provides specialised programs similar to Data Science in Education, out there as an elective for Master’s college students with 20 college students enrolled and the Cyber Awareness and Security course, which commenced in February with 350 college students.
“UPSI plans to introduce a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (Internet of Things) for 50 college students in 2025, as well as to a Dual Degree Programme providing a PhD in AI in collaboration with Cardiff Metropolitan University (CMET), UK, which is able to begin in October this 12 months,” he stated.
Md Amin added that the AI faculty contains specialists specialising in fields similar to machine studying, optimisation, information analytics, visualisation, IoT and robotics.
